I am interested in what remains.
I work in painting, graphic art, and papier-mâché. Each material has its own relationship with time, its own way of resisting or surrendering. I don't choose a medium to illustrate an idea — I choose it because it knows something I don't yet.
I begin without a plan. What appears on the surface is found, not composed. I show up, stay present, and let something pass through. Some works take months. Others happen in a single sitting, with no possibility of revision. Both feel like the same act — a kind of listening.
What I'm after is the moment before understanding. The sense that something is present before you can name it. Not meaning delivered, but meaning approached.
I make work because there are things I cannot reach through language. Getting close is enough.
